Description
The Explore Award gives you ownership; allowing you to choose where you move next in the world of paddlesport. Working with a coach you will be able to develop a programme that suits what you need. Learning to make confident choices with this individualised approach. Using the sheltered water environment to focus on knowledge and skills specific to a subject or discipline. This is a 2 day course on Tilgate Lake using different craft.
Booking Conditions for Tilgate Park Watersports
Deposits and Payments: Final payments will be held if participant’s cancellation notice was not received seven working days before the course start date.
Individual bookings are subject to a 50% non returnable amount.
A provisional booking will be kept for 2 weeks only
No booking can be confirmed until Tilgate Park Watersports has received full remittance paid over the phone or in person by card or cash as well as the booking form.
Cancellations: Tilgate Park Watersports reserve the right to cancel a course if viable numbers are not reached, due to adverse weather conditions or circumstances beyond our control. If Tilgate Park Watersports cannot offer a suitable alternative date, course or venue a full refund will be given.
Swimming Ability: We take non swimmers as long as they are happy to participate.
We encourage watersports for all regardless of ability. Please make us aware on the booking form if you or a member of your group is a non swimmer.
Equipment: All watersports equipment will be provided except shoes and personal equipment.
Clothing: Wetsuits are provided for all activities at the Instructors discretion, warm clothing (NO JEANS) can be worn most of the time for most activities. Hats, sunscreen, old trainers, wet shoes etc (NO FLIP-FLOPS or SLIDERS) are a must depending on the day. On the day a complete change of clothes will be needed including a towel for afterwards. Footwear must be worn at all times on and off the water
Insurance: Tilgate Park Watersports is covered to the sum of £10,000,000 for public liability. It is strongly advised that participants take out insurance against loss, injury, or having to cancel a course.
Special Needs: If you or an entire group has any special needs, it is you or your group leader’s responsibility to let us know of any information that will help to make your time with us a pleasant experience.
We will endeavour to help you achieve your goals in your chosen watersports.
At the centre we can accommodate people with special needs, including children with behaviour problems, learning difficulties, other disabilities or a combination of needs.
Access to the lake and its boundaries/pontoons and jetties are wheelchair accessible.
There are disabled toilets in the toilet block next to the main carpark
Personal Belongings: Tilgate Park Watersports will not accept any responsibility for personal belongings and equipment whilst attending a course
Water Quality: Crawley Council in partnership with Tilgate Park Watersports maintains supervision of Campbell Lake and surrounding area but as a large body of untreated open water hosting a range of wildlife, factors beyond the Council’s control may create an unsuitable environment for watersports. In such circumstances the Council reserves the right to close the lake to watersports activities.
The lake water can also have varying bacterial levels which cannot be controlled and so people who take part in watersports at the lake should, therefore, be aware of the inherent risks associated with inland open water such as Leptosirosis (Weil’s disease) and the Council and Tilgate Park Watersports cannot be held liable for any ill health resulting from such activity.
Booking Conditions for Tilgate Park Watersports
Risk and responsibility: All participants need be completely aware that there can be a risk to injury or death doing any watersports. All participants will not hold in any way anybody from Tilgate Park Watersports responsible for any injury or death while doing the watersports that is offered by them unless found negligent.
All participants need to be reasonably fit to take part in the activity they wish to do.
Participant’s code of conduct: All participants are asked to abide by the following rules at all times.
- To cooperate with all requests and decisions for safety made by all Tilgate Park Watersports staff
- Be on time for sessions to help you get the best out of the course and not to disrupt the course for other participants
- Must not be abusive to Tilgate Park Watersports staff
- Must control their behavior which may inconvenience or upset others including bullying(which may cause you to be sent home)
- Be considerate and respectful and treat all water users how you wish to be treated
- All participants must wear all appropriate clothing given at all times past the gates on the pontoon and on the water agreed by your coach
- Take care of any equipment and clothing belonging to Tilgate Park Watersports that they are given or the other participants equipment and clothing
- Not to leave sessions without permission of Tilgate Park Watersports staff
All participants are not allowed to smoke, consume alcohol or any other substances of any kind when doing Tilgate Park Watersports activities
